Playing on a phone or tablet
Ribbit Royale also works on touch screens. Hold your device sideways. The left side of the screen is a movement stick, and you drag anywhere on the right side to look around. On-screen buttons fire, jump, dash, swing the sword, use the hook and throw grenades. The game lowers its graphics settings on phones so it stays smooth.
What is on your screen
- Health sits at the bottom of the screen. Frogs do not regenerate health on their own, so take cover after a fight.
- The hotbar in the bottom right shows your three slots and which one is in your hands. In 5v5 it also shows your grenade.
- The minimap in the top corner shows the map around you. In battle royale it also shows the safe zone.
- The kill feed lists who took down whom. Red arcs around your crosshair show the direction you were hit from.
Beginner tips
Keep moving
A frog standing still is the easiest target on the map. Dash between pieces of cover, jump when you peek a corner, and use your grappling hook to reach high ground. Momentum carries over, so a dash into a jump goes further than either one alone.
Pick the right tool for the distance
The sniper rewards patience at long range, the AK-47 is strong at middle distance, and the shotgun wins most fights up close. The sword is always in slot 2, and a well-timed swing beats a panicked shot when an enemy lands right next to you.
Use height
Rooftops, towers and cliffs give you a clear view and make you harder to hit. The grappling hook can pull you onto almost any wall, and the rocket launcher can blast you into the air. Both cost you a little time, so use them before a fight starts, not in the middle of one.
Listen
Gunshots, sword clashes and footsteps tell you where other frogs are. Headphones help a lot.
Play your mode
In deathmatch you respawn quickly, so it is a good place to practise aim and movement. In battle royale you only have one life: avoid fights you do not need, stay inside the safe zone, and let other frogs wear each other down. In 5v5, stay with your team and use your grenade to block a path or flush enemies out of cover.
Changing your loadout
Press L, or tap the backpack button, to choose your slot 1 weapon, your movement tool and your 5v5 grenade. You can change your loadout on the menu or during a match. The Weapons page explains each choice in detail.
